In the heart of bustling Mumbai, on January 13, 1963, Mr. Amin Patel was born into humble beginnings that would shape a remarkable journey of public service. Guided by a lifelong commitment to his people, Mr. Amin Patel has become a pioneering force in Maharashtra’s political landscape, a leader whose dedication, reliability, and passion for progress have left an indelible mark on the lives of many.

Mr. Amin Patel’s political journey began in 1985 when he joined the Indian National Congress, inspired by leaders and ideas that shaped his vision of public service. In 1988, he was first appointed General Secretary of the Youth Congress for the South-Central District, marking the beginning of his life in public service in leadership roles. He further took on the role of Organizing Secretary of the Minority Cell in 1990. In 1993, Mr. Amin Patel was appointed General Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC), and in 1994, he became Vice-President of the Mumbai Minority Cell under the MPCC.

In 1996, he was elected Vice-President of the South-Central District Congress Committee, a position he held in both 1997 and 2000. In 2002, under the leadership of the the Hon'ble Congress President Hon. Smt. Sonia Gandhi, he was appointed Secretary of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC). In the same year, he was nominated as a Corporator in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and became a Member of the Improvement and Law Committees of the BMC. In his role as Corporator, he also served as Chief Whip of the Congress Party in the BMC and was part of the State Advisory Committee (Security Guard Board) and the Advisory Committee of St. George Hospital under the Government of Maharashtra. These positions enabled him to contribute significantly to local governance, infrastructure, and healthcare reforms.

In 2007, Mr. Amin Patel contested the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections and won, defeating a 10-year Shiv Sena incumbent. That same year, he was appointed Chairman of the Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation, where he dedicated himself to empowering Maharashtra’s minority communities.

Elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Mumbadevi in 2009, Mr. Amin Patel has since been re-elected three consecutive times, serving with distinction for over 15 years. His leadership is defined by a deep connection to his constituents, always putting their needs first and working to resolve their issues at the grassroots level. Healthcare, quality education, affordable housing, youth development, and women’s empowerment are just a few of the critical areas where he has focused his energy. In 2018, he was appointed General Secretary of the MRCC, and his role as a Member of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC).

Mr. Amin Patel’s vision is not confined to his constituency. Through strategic partnerships with NGOs and community organizations, he has championed initiatives such as anti-drug campaigns, job training programs, and social welfare reforms that uplift marginalized communities and foster communal harmony. His efforts to address vital issues like clean energy, unemployment, and healthcare continue to resonate across Maharashtra.

Known for his perceptive debates and vocal presence in the Maharashtra Assembly, Mr. Amin Patel has been consistently recognized for his outstanding service. Ranked the No. 1 MLA in Mumbai six times by the Praja Foundation and recently awarded “Best Parliamentarian” (Uttkrusht Sansadpattu) by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, his work has been lauded by peers and constituents alike. Most recently, he was honored by the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, a testament to his lasting impact on public service.
